The severe drawbacks of the overstimulated childhood

Kids nowadays grow up to be a softer version of their ancestors. Their knees don't exhibit any of the scars their parents have and their skin doesn't show any discoloration or uneveness as a result of a wound that healed under the scorching sun of summer days spent scavenging huge expanses of discarded goods, or simply playing outdoors.
They spend most of their time indoors breathing in their own exhalation in dark rooms, interacting with fictitious characters on a flat colored screen.
You could find them also buried in their electronic devices, peeping over other people's life, a kind of generalized and widely accepted form of voyeurism.
Experiences are vicarious, life is bland. Their overstimulated brain is always running after the next "fix". Sometimes it comes in the form of a film watching marathon, other times under the guise of a bulimic attack on the pantry.
These kids are struggling more and more to get themselves into that quiet, motionless space, where water is not insipid to our palate, where the simple flight of a bird exalts our senses, and where the smell of the evening breeze jolts our brain into festive mood.
They become like the callous hard working hand, made insensitive through exposure to abrasive and harsh elements.
Overstimulation and exposure to a saturated environment raised the threashold of enjoyment to levels that could only be achieved at the detriment of their health and well-being.
Weaning them from their overstimulating environment, retraining their mind and bringing it to more sober countenance will be a daunting and a painful task at best.
