The cumulative effect of inconsequential and trivial bad habits

As we look closely at the physical well-being across the population, we can clearly observe the cumulative and insidious effects of deleterious lifestyle patterns over extended timeframes.
We wake up one day, trudge across the room in the stark darkness. We laboriously bend down, in our groggy state, at the corner of the room, trying to get our hands on our misplaced pair of slippers.
We turn around frustrated from sheer physical exertion and we see them sticking out from under the bed.
Unable to reach the floor from our upright position, we, after blurting out a couple of improprieties between two overlapping breaths, we get on our knees, snatch the slippers out and place them in front of us.
We kick our feet inside, and resume our slanted walk towards the bathroom.
A normal day you would say, except for our small inconvenient slippers mishap, coupled with the grim realization that there is a fatty outgrowth hanging down from our mid-section, which forced us to get on our knees to get our slippers.
We seldom pay attention to our flabby, bulging gut until somebody mentions that our shirt is coming out of our pants, or teases us jokingly about the lump sitting comfortably over our belt.
How we ended up with this considerable "growth" or rather "overgrowth", to the point where it started interfering with our daily routines.

The above scenario invites reflection on how incremental lifestyle choices can produce effects that eventually impact our personal health and comfort.
Careful and conscientious assessment of our daily routines and their long-term implications could help mitigate the issue.
The main challenge is that the consequences are delayed in time rather than instantaneous, and our constitution responds better to immediate feedback rather that a deferred one.
