Safety, security and the dear price we pay for them

Safety nets and security measures are expressions that invaded our life, from parental advice, to marketing campaigns, to political discourses.
It seems like spreading exaggerated or fabricated fears triggers a rush towards any recipe that promises security and peace of mind.
Manufacturers and governments alike use security as a competitive edge and a selling point.
Sanitized sand for playgrounds, helmets and pads for kids bikes that barely go beyond an octogenarian walking pace and strollers whose security features rivals with the most sophisticated means of transportation are just a few examples.
We also see whole new industries dedicated towards making professional disciplines seem accessible to lay people after fitting professional-grade implements with fool-safe features and advertising then as safe and secure.
Powerful cars and bike fitted with more computing power than a database center to aid the unqualified mortals, and most importantly to give them the impression that they can man and handle such beasts.
We see it in sports, where people buy high-performance and extortionately expensive gear for the weekend escapade in their local gym of the nearest woods.
This created individuals that have an overinflated confidence in their capacities and an implicit, unswerving trust in their environment that dutifully fits their lives with ramparts and strong fortifications agaisnt all ills and evils.
Setting up such an environment comes at a steep price.
But, ... , what is an individual raised in such environments decided to relocate somewhere else, where these safety measures are scoffed at and sometimes laughed at as inane.
Well, they get the full brunt of a life that is not mollified to suit their undervelopped and sometimes absent survival reflexes.
The artificial safety nets that are non-existent in these environment coupled with the persistent illusion that they can still live the same way they did in their fully padded society leads to dire consequences.
Anyone familiar with travelling knows that unfortunate accidents, intoxications, issues with the authorities, happen mostly to people originating from these environment.
This manufactured stability breeds weak subjects that can only exist in the espace where they have been brought up in and they could only settle in a "secure" milieu, with overinflated prices and reduced access to the surrounding environment. They thus drastically limit their choices, but that is the price one pays for an over-sheltered life.
