On being vulnerable

Sometimes as a result of a violent deception or a series of unfortunate events, we adopt grim, rigid personalities.
We stop being open and vulnerable, and we start pushing people and opportunities away for fear of being deceived and duped.
Our manufactured shield does not discriminate, anything foreign is either harmful or has the potential to harm us.
We become pathologically paranoid and we feel that everybody and everything is a threat.
Our life becomes a struggle and our energy gets depleted by our continuous worrying and fretting.
We readily forget that when we open up with an agreeable attitude, we live fully, we experience more things and our positives encounters far outnumber the negatives ones.
We invite variety and movement which moves the stagnant, putrid water of our existence and make way for the translucent, crystal clear one.
