The shield between us and nature : Reconquering our lost selves

Civilization with its tall buildings, sophisticated infrastructures and developed technology improved our lives in many ways. It also created a wall between us and nature and severed many of the emotional bonds that we need to live a balanced and fuller life.
Contact with nature strips away all the superfluous and leaves us stark naked with our true being exposed to the elements. It brings simple joys to our life and turns the volume down on a lot of the fabricated issues inherent to the city life.
Once these fade away, we feel peaceful and grateful to be alive, grateful for our health and grateful for our next breath.
In these environments material possessions lose some of their appeal, our needs and our lives get extremely simplified and our feelings that were numbed through over-exposure to saturated stimuli start regaining their vigor.
Once that happens, we can catch ourselves looking in amazement at a simple dangling flower, staring in wonder at the synchronized flight of a bee or following a marching army of ants with a stupefied gaze. All the little simple things that used to leave us indifferent, become the source of joy and satisfaction.
Reconquering our innate baseline stimulation threshold would radically affect our lives, as our senses get heightened and our emotions get aligned to a level that doesnt jeer our nervous system and overload our brain with useless sense data.
