The abusive use of technology and its effects on our humanity

Technology brings a certain amount comfort into our life.
Cars allow us to be geographically fluid, kitchen contraptions help streamline the food preparation process, wash our clothes and do household chores with minimum effort.
Our skills and know-how dwindle as our reliance on machinery grows. We feel lost without our devices, given that most of us misuse or plainly squander the extra time the use of these "helpers" affords us.
Another example is the pernicious invasion of phones and tablets. These devices, useful if used sensibly, burden us with senseless data and intense stimuli that leave us fatigued and demoralized given the overall negative bent of the messages disseminated by these lifeless contraptions.
Socializing along with other basic human interactions become a burden, as we rather prefer the company of a lifeless screen, looking for the next news, game or message that will feed our overstimulated brain.
The sheer amount of technology is dehumanizing us, tearing us away from meaningful relationships which constitute the backbone of a healthy society.
Without these bonds, we are loose leaves flying aimlessly about in the wind of loneliness and vulnerability.
Emotional investment in families, neighbors and friends could never be replaced by cold, callous and impersonal electronic devices. We need human warmth for our mental sanity and physical prosperity.
