The theoretical and the practical life

People are vastly different in their approach to life. Some like to know what they are up against before taking the plunge into any endeavor, others are comfortable with high levels of uncertainty.
The bookish kind are generally better at expressing themselves in formal settings. Their stories are more poetic, more charming, and more enthralling than the ones recounted by their more “practical” conterparts.
Stories told by pragmatic people might be less refined but they convey reality simply and authentically.
Practical people plunge head-first into experiences. They learn how to devise solutions as they move along. This is by far the best way to achieve results, and get a real life experience.
It is also the most demanding one because of the high risks involved.
Unlike the "bookish", people in the “practical” category arm themselves with very basic knowledge at first, the rest, they learn by doing.
People who adopt both the “bookish” and the “practical” method stand in the middle, they represent a huge chunk of our society. They straddle the fence separating the “bookish” and the more pragmatic portion of the population.
Half of their energy goes towards book learning, and the other half towards more practical matters.
In general, humans glide seamlessly across these three categories as situations, our mood and our tolerance to risk fluctuates.
