Information and data : Their effect on our life and behaviour

The barrage of information we are inundated witheach and every day, bogs down our brain, leaving us tired and confused. We are constantly distracted, staring at our phone, watching TV, or mindlessly consuming random pieces of news.
We run around engaged in frivolous scrolling, gulping down huge amounts of data fearing that we would miss out on something important, that would leave us unprepared, staring into the void with nothing to say in a casual conversation around a drink with more "knowledgeable" friends.
Easy access usually promotes glutonous behavior. At first we dip our toes into the bottomless lake of gossip, news, reports and miscellaneous communications. As time goes by the dipping morphes into waddling, then finally into full immersion.
Data consumption slowly and insidiously transitions from an idle, mild habit into a vicious addiction.
It is like a drug "fix" that becomes a necessary part of our daily routines.
Its damage goes beyond the squandering of our brain power, sifting through the insane influx of futile information we are subjected to on a daily basis. That information contains data that could frustrate the body, compromise our mood and lead to all kinds of ills.
Information and data are an important component of our life. We rely on it to take decisions that heavily impacts our future. Getting the right information through a meticulous elimination process is one of the new challenge facing us nowadays.
Abundance comes with its own challenges to which simplicity and restraint could bring a slight relief.
