Auto-flushing toilets and the erosion of our abilities

We sometimes notice that some people leave public toilets without flushing.
We may ask ourselves, it only takes a second to push a button, or to pull on a chain, and most people don't lack a basic hygiene education.
The ubiquity of all manners of intelligent contraptions are a welcome addition to our lives, they make our lives easier, and they save us time that could be used for other, more satisfying activities.
The issue is that we stop paying attention assuming that technology will take over and do everything for us.
That's the main reason behind our unflushed toilet example. We got used to auto-flushing toilets, and we started having the same behavior whether we are in front of a sensor equipped toilet, or a traditional one.
These technological tools are becoming crutches rather than helpers. We rely on them so heavily that they started eroding our ability to function as humans.
When these tools are not available to us, we find ourselves helpless, struggling to perform the simplest of tasks that our parents did with relative ease.
The heavy use of technology is gradually robbing us of our most vital allies, mindfulness, resourcefulness, and presence.
Since almost all the electronic equipements have some kind of artificial intelligence built into them, our ability to use our brain started to decline. As a result boredom and dejection invaded our lives, pushing us to mindlessly seeking entertainment in all its forms, be it recreational drugs, mindless consumption of digital content, or an excessive inclination towards hedonistic desires.
